When we were young we discovered some creative ways to learn to concentrate and stay focused on one particular thing at a time and this helped develop concentration skills. Sadly, as we become adults though we tend to become more reserved in our efforts. We don’t make time to draw or to paint for the most part and we definitely don’t want others to criticize our work when we do.
We allow what other people, and society in general, will think of our attempts dictate what we do. We start believing that we have to keep several balls in the air at one time, and we don’t realize how much that affects our concentration skills. When you use your hands to stimulate the brain, you will be able to draw and to paint freely. You will also find yourself focusing on just one activity rather than on several different things at one time.
A great way to start this important process is by doodling in the margins of your papers when you are deep in thought. Forcing yourself ot focus on only one activity will allow you to develop and refine those very important concentration skills. The main goal is keeping your hands moving constantly, so either try writing something or just start doodling till you think of something else.
When you find new information entering your mind you can quickly go back to writing your thoughts down. It is important as you work through this process to keep your brain stimulated. Knitting, sewing and weaving are all also excellent activities to help with this process. Not only will you be stimulating your brain in really beneficial ways, you are also producing some terrific products with your hands in the process.
If you don’t have any particular kinds of things you like to do, take a trip to the nearest craft store and wander through. There will be something at the local craft store that will appeal to you. Be sure and stay focused on the idea that whatever you decide to do the long term results will be your brain activity being stimulated. Many people also use these methods that stimulate the brain as a means of releasing tension and relaxing.
The overall benefits for your mental well being are more than you want to pass up. A lot of people will admit once they reached that level place in their minds they had better ideas than they had ever come up with before. This all goes back to your concentration skills. It’s time to stop trying to keep too many balls in the air and change your focus.
