Sam had not previously watched the show, but Koli had. Koli’s parents were huge fans of the season seven Tongan cousins, Filipe and Sione. He says he was inspired to see two strong Tongan men on the show, and also hopes to follow in their footsteps of creating a new appreciation for health and wellness.

Interview with Sam Poueu and Koli Palu: Biggest Loser 9 Contestants
“There’s only so much you can expect about something you’ve never experienced,” says one of Biggest Loser’s newest contestants during week one at the ranch. Andrea Hough is joined by her father Darrell Hough, who says just a few short days on the show has totally blown his mind!
It’s a big change for the daughter-father team, weighing 298 and 413 pounds respectively. Darrell says he had an idea of where his weight was, since he often steps on shipping scales at work. It was Darrell’s idea for the two to apply to the show, stating his motivation was to improve his quality of life and no longer be a prisoner in his home.
Listen now as Andrea and Darrell tells about the journey that lead them to Biggest Loser and how their first week on the ranch has been so far.

Interview with Darrell Hough and Andrea Hough: Biggest Loser Season 9
It’s not the first time Biggest Loser has had a set of twins at the ranch. On season four, twins Bill and Jim Germanakos dominated, taking home both the grand prize and the at-home prize. With big shoes to follow in, James Crutchfield and John Crutchfield think they’ve got what it takes.
The 30-year-old twins admit it won’t be easy though, saying they have a target on their backs since they weigh-in as the heaviest team on campus. James is 485 pounds and John is 484 pounds. Their advantage? They say it’s being naturally competitive, which pushes them more.
Listen now as we speak with James and John during their first week at the Biggest Loser ranch.
